Celebrating 5 Years!

Jeremy and I are celebrating our 5 year anniversary on friday! Where did the time go? We have moved cross country twice, had a lot of laughs, a few tears, and have a beautiful baby boy...

What else could I ask for? Here's to another 5 years! :)

Don't forget to eat your brocolli

A girl on my playgroup posted this and I think it's soo funny! So kids remember, there is an advantage to eating your vegetables. :)

How To Bathe A 6 Month Old Baby....

Step 1: Fill bathtub with warm water

Step 2: Make sure that tub toys and various soaps and lotions are within arms reach.

Step 3: Retrieve baby from the tight spot between the bathtub and toilet- as he has somehow wiggled his way in there in the 3 second time span that it took to find the baby soap.

Step 4: Take diaper off of baby (unless of course he has already figured out how to remove it himself...in that case retrieve dirty diaper from behind the toilet where your little houdini has stashed it)

Step 5: Place the baby in bathtub gently

Step 6: Try to stop the baby from trying to roll over long enough to get his hair wet.

Step 7: While pinning him down in the bathtub, proceed to wash and rinse his hair. Note: He will invaritably throw his head back the moment that water touches his hair, thus causing both the soap and water to run into his eyes and face.

Step 8: Give the baby a few minutes to splash and play with various tub toys.

Step 9: Calm baby down after he has splashed himself with water, as he thinks it is only funny to splash others not himself.

Step 10: While baby is still semi angry from the splashing incident, proceed to wash the rest of baby very quickly.

Having a flashback of the first couple of months.

Jackson has infant reflux, and for a while it was really bad. He basically screamed for the first two months of his life non-stop. Everytime I would take him into the doctor, they would tell me that he had colic and he would eventually grow out of it. Which if you look up the defination of colic- it means that no body knows what the heck is actually wrong with your kid.

Then one day- he threw one of his fits in the doctors office. He turned bright red, and held his breathe and no amount of comforting would get him to stop crying. Now, this is not normal behavior for a 2 month old. They aren't intelligent enough to throw temper tantrums yet. So the doctor finally agreed to look into the possibility that he had reflux....now i had been saying it for over a month but they kept blowing me off.

After a tramatic upper GI (prob more so for mommy than baby) they finally gave him the dx of reflux. We got switched to an expensive formula (not milk based, totally broken down) and he was put on a couple of reflux meds. It took us another month to figure stuff out- but eventually he started feeling good again. And we had a happy smiley baby...

That was up until 48 hours ago- the doctors wanted me to try him on a milk based formula again to see if he has outgrown his reflux. I didn't switch him over cold turkey- I did one scoop of the milk based, to 2 of his special formula. Well lets just say the last 2 days have been hellish.

He has screamed almost non-stop, and refuses to sleep for more than 3o minute intervals. I only gave him like 4 bottles with the mixture, and now we are back to straight non-milk formula, and I am hoping to see an improvement again.

So I am sleep deprived and stressed to say the least- I had forgotten how rough it was the first couple of months to watch your child scream in pain and not be able to make it better. I cried 3 times yesterday.

New Office is Up and Running!

So we survived the move- and my new office is up and running. (Now granted I can't find more than a roll of toilet paper, a single baby blanket or burp rag, or a pair of pants...) But as long as my computer is running all is right with the world. The walls are a sunny yellow- and everyone has their place. Mommy has a shiny new leather computer chair, Taco (the dachshound) is asleep in his dog bed at my feet, Belle (the chihuhuha) is napping in her Dora the Explorer plush chair, and Jackson has his aquarium playpen full of toys and his exersaucer within arms reach. We are a corporate entity!

And just in time too- I logged on this morning to over 100 emails. Who knew I was so popular. LOL!

Work is coming in right and left, and I see a brand new shiny dual-monitor PC in my future...oh and Jackson needs a leap frog learning table....

Movin!

I will be away from the computer for a few days- while we move into the new house. See you all when my internet is back up.

Guess what hubby did!

Ok I am a little hormonal right now- but hubby has really made my night. :) Last weekend Jeremy and I tried to go out to dinner and it was a disaster! I got all dressed up and we packed up Jackson- complete with toys, bumbo, and a couple bottles. I figured that he should be fine- we would just sit him on the table top in the bumbo and let him look around. Boy was I wrong! He was ok for the first couple minutes, and then he started doing that all-telling grunting thing that means trouble is brewing.

This lady at the next table over gave me a dirty look- yes you could smell him..but what was I supposed to do? Then I pull him out of the bumbo and realize that we had a complete diaper blow out! So I had to carry him to the bathroom and hose him off. [for the record- I hate those diaper pal things Jackson screamed every time I lay him on one.]

We should have left then, but I wanted to finish my meal. Well not 5 minutes later- he grabbed my drink and flung it across the room. All over the lady that had given us a dirty look! Funny...yes...karma sucks!

But, I realized that we prob shouldn't go out to dinner for a while.

I was really bummed- cause we haven't gone out to eat in ages.

Well after a really rough day with the baby (teething sucks) Jeremy sent me to wal-mart and told me not to come home for at least an hour.

Guess what he did?

He made me dinner! And not just any dinner- he made me chedder garlic biscuits and crab alfredo. YUMMOOOO!

At first, I thought that he had just gone to Red Lobster and got the food to go- cause it was way too good for something that hubby cooked. (love him but he can only make pizza and hamburgers)

But he showed me the actual cookbook that he got the recipe- so I had to give credit where credit is due. :)

There are tons of good recipes here too- I think tomorrow I am going to try to make the Applebee’s tequila lime chicken. Who needs a stinkin restaurant!

Moving with a baby is a nightmare!

At this rate- we may never get done! Jackson does not like to be sat down for any extended period of time, so at the moment I have like 2 boxes packed. I have to wait until he is sleeping...which doesn't leave much time for anything else.

I am NEVER moving again....at least not until he is 18.
